Get Even Skin Tone Now
The quest for gorgeous glowing skin – Thousands flock to dermatologists offices each year to find solutions for even, smooth clear skin. With Spring just around the corner who doesn’t want the healthy glow of a supermodel? The good news is that that are some sure fire ways to improve on what mother nature has bestowed upon you. Your skin tone will never have looked so good!
1) Use A Good Sunscreen
Firstly, my recommendation is to always always use a good sunscreen. Never leave home with out it – and even better: carry some in your purse to reapply during the day. Sunscreen is the number one defense that protects the skin from the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun, helping to prevent fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation from an aesthetic point of view. More importantly it safeguards against carcinomas and skin cancer. Here are a few of my personal favorites and those which have received great reviews.
Chanel UV Essential SPF 50 – This oil free lightweight formula includes Vit E, licorice and plant extracts in its ingredients. It protects against UVA and UVB rays, helps diminish and prevent the appearance of dark spots and premature aging. This is my personal favorite as it agrees with my oily skin and does not cause acne breakouts.
Clarins UV Plus Day Screen High Protection SPF 40. This sunscreen packs a triple punch! The 100% mineral filters protects against UV damage while a patented anti-pollution complex defends against the elements. All this with organic cantaloupe melon extract which contains powerful anti-oxidants that neutralize the harmful effects of free radicals on the skin. This formula is sheer and lightweight.
Clinique City Block SPF 25 – is a sheer broad spectra daily sunscreen that can be used alone or as a makeup primer. It is oil free and can be used around the delicate eye area as is chemical free.
This is a favorite amongst those with oily and acne prone skin. Obagi Nu-derm Sun Shield spf 50. It contains a high SPF with 10.5% zinc oxide and 7.5% octinoxate. It applies easily and absorbs into the skin without a whitish hue. The total matte finish makes this the perfect primer before makeup.
This featherweight formula brightens the skin while it protects against UVA/UVB damage and oxidative stress with an SPF of 50. Skin is left brighter and the complexion illuminated with a flawless radiance.
2) Slough Away Dead Skin Cells
Exfoliation is key to a beautiful skin tone as it sloughs away dry, dead skin cells that can give your skin a dull , dry appearance. The shedding of the outer layer unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and can help with acne breakouts. Exfoliation should always be done after cleansing. I love to include the Clarisonic in my daily regime as it is the perfect way to gently exfoliate for me. I have found that mechanical exfoliants such as scrubs can be too harsh for my sensitive, acne prone skin and I can be over zealous in my efforts!
3) Remember to Moisturize
Don’t forget to moisturize to keep skin supple and dewy and to prevent wrinkles formed by dry skin.
4) Apply Bronzer or Blush
I usually like to keep my skin bare and let my natural radiance shine but I love to dust my face with a mineral bronzing powder like Victoria’s Secret Baked Mineral Bronzing Powder
5) Wear Concealer
Since I am such a minimalist when it comes to makeup on my skin I do feel the necessity to use a good concealer. Right now I am in love with YSL Touche Eclat a concealer pen that brings luminosity to the complexion. It comes in 12 different shades. This pen instantly wipes away any signs of fatigue and gives you a pick me up for a radiant and rested look.
6) Use A Good Foundation
If what you desire is that air brushed look in the fashion magazines then look no further than Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation which was a 2012 Best Beauty Buy for InStyle Magazine. It’s oil free formula goes on seamlessly with a silky texture and all day buildable sheer to moderate coverage enhancing your skin tone and texture.
***One of the simplest ways to ensure smooth, even, unpigmented skin is to add a retinoid to your regime. Retinoids are a derivative of Vitamin A and are still considered the gold standard. They are proven to work to reduce acne, improve skin texture and tone and minimize wrinkles. I have been using Retin A Micro for the last year or so and have noticed a dramatic difference. I can even go so far as to say that my skin tone today is better than it was in my 20′s!!
